NEW SUBSENTIO® SERVICE HELPS PROTECT INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS FROM COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT LAWSUITS
Subsentio DMCA Records Production Manages “Takedown Notices” Enabling Safe Harbor from Costly Litigation
DENVER, SEPTEMBER 20, 2016 — Subsentio, the CALEA Compliance CompanyTM, introduces DMCA Records Production, a service that lets Internet Service Providers (ISPs) outsource the costly, time-consuming job of issuing “takedown notices” to customers who use online content without the owner’s permission.
Under the 1996 Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), ISPs are liable if customers use their networks to access and illegally use copyrighted content. Subsentio’s DMCA Records Production Service ensures that ISPs meet the DMCA requirements to be eligible for “Safe Harbor” from legal action for copyright infringement.
“With the average ISP receiving thousands of notices every month from owners of copyrighted content, falling behind on DMCA procedural obligations is not an option,” said Martin McDermott, Chief Operating Officer at Subsentio. “The record award of US$25 million paid by one ISP for DMCA violations last year was a ‘wake-up call’ — service providers that fail to take this law seriously can face the same legal and financial consequences.”
Subsentio DMCA Records Production is an outsourced solution that helps ISPs qualify for Safe Harbor from copyright infringement lawsuits. Features include end-to-end management of the DMCA records production process including claim review, notification letters to ISP customers that they must cease illegal use of (“takedown”) copyrighted material, and monthly reporting of all DMCA activity for the client.
