DENVER, JULY 27, 2017 – On Friday, July 28 at 11:00am MTN time, Centennial-based Subsentio, the CALEA Compliance Company®, salutes members of the Colorado State Patrol selected to receive the “Citizens Appreciate State Troopers” or “C.A.S.T.” Award.
Held in the Governor’s Residence at the Boettcher Mansion, the event honors Colorado State Troopers for their courage and commitment in preserving the law and protecting public safety.
Subsentio CEO and Founder Steve Bock will join host Deputy Chief Mark Savage and members of the C.A.S.T. Board of Directors in presenting awards to the following members of the Colorado State Patrol:
- Corporal Jason Sparks who safely disarmed a suicidal woman and coaxed her into a waiting ambulance – saving her from death by prescription drug overdose. Corporal Sparks will receive the C.A.S.T. Distinguished Service Award.
- Trooper Eduardo Henriquez and Trooper Justin Richards for preventing the murder of an innocent bystander by an individual suspected of involvement in human trafficking. Fleeing arrest, the suspect jumped into a truck while the vehicle’s owner lay underneath doing repairs, then placed it in gear with the intent running over all three men. Troopers Henriquez and Richards discharged their weapons, striking and killing the fleeing suspect, and saving both the truck owner’s and their own lives. Troopers Henriquez and Richards will receive the C.A.S.T. Distinguished Service Award.
- Trooper Adam Jennings for disarming an individual under pursuit for shooting four individuals, three of whom had died from their injuries. Seeing that the suspect had no weapon in hand, Trooper Jennings single-handedly tackled and disarmed him before the suspect could kill or harm others. Trooper Jennings will receive the A.S.T. Distinguished Service Award.
- Trooper Cody Donahue (posthumously). While assisting with the investigation of a motor crash on I-25 near Castle Rock in Douglas County, Colorado, Trooper Donahue was struck by a commercial vehicle and killed instantly. Trooper Donahue will be honored posthumously with the A.S.T. Purple Heart Award.
