Subsentio Lawful Intercept Now Available as Hosted Platform via IntelePeer’s Communications Application Marketplace for Rich Content Services – Fluent “Federation as a Service”

SAN DIEGO, OCTOBER 16, 2013 – At BroadSoft Connections 2013, Subsentio, the first name in lawful intercept, joined the IntelePeer Fluent “Federation as a Service” (FaaS) Marketplace, a cloud-based platform providing rich communications services.

As one of the launch partners of the Fluent FaaS marketplace, Subsentio is making its Safe Harbor ProbeTM lawful intercept capability for IntelePeer’s on-net traffic available to communications service providers pre-integrated on IntelePeer’s hosted platform. Availability of the Probe’s electronic surveillance capabilities via Fluent FaaS provides service providers with an easy-to-use and economical channel to ensure compliance with the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA).

“With the rapid surge in court orders for lawful intercept – up some 150 percent over the last decade – many communications service providers struggle to keep pace with CALEA’s strict compliance regimen,” said Steve Bock, President of Subsentio. “Now CSPs can meet all compliance requirements of the law ‘in the cloud,’ and at the same time leverage the power of Subsentio’s service bureau for legal and law enforcement expertise.”

“Since launching Fluent FaaS, IntelePeer has experienced a surge in demand for our cloud- based approach to unified communications services,” said Margaret Norton, IntelePeer’s Chief Marketing Officer.“Because the vast majority of communications service providers are subject to CALEA, we see the addition of Subsentio’s Safe Harbor ProbeTM to our marketplace of rich communication services and applications as a valuable service to the industry, the public and law enforcement.”

Subsentio Names FBI Veteran Curtis R. Collins As Law Enforcement Liaison Officer

Surveillance Expert Credited with Investigation Leading to Conviction of Terrorist Following 9/11 Attack Joins Foremost U.S. Third Party Lawful Intercept Provider

DENVER, JUNE 26, 2013 — Subsentio, a Trusted Third Party service bureau for Lawfully Authorized Electronic Surveillance (LAES), today named Curtis R. Collins as its newest Law Enforcement Liaison Officer.

“Curtis Collins provides important depth to Subsentio’s existing law enforcement liaison function at a time of heightened awareness within the communications industry of the need for proven technical solutions backed by hands-on law enforcement and legal expertise,” said Steve Bock, Subsentio president.

“As Subsentio continues to experience rising demand for our lawful intercept solutions, Curtis Collins’ strong working knowledge of the compliance requirements surrounding surveillance law will prove a vital asset for our company, our customers, and the skilled men and women whose job it is to apprehend criminals and terrorists,” Bock added.

“I am proud to join a company whose mission so closely aligns with my professional objective of leveraging lawful intercept to safeguard the welfare of our citizens and protect U.S. national security,” said Collins. “Subsentio is one of the very few enterprises of whom it can be said without reservation, ‘the greater public good is their business.’”

In a career spanning 26 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Collins has earned meritorious recognition as a manager of electronic surveillance, tracking and computer networking programs used to combat racketeering, terrorism and foreign intelligence operations.

Among his numerous accomplishments, Collins supervised investigations and managed the database documenting international terrorism investigations after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, leading to the capture and sentencing of a prominent terrorist. As Supervisor

Senior Resident Agent for the FBI’s Cincinnati office, he was recognized for management of surveillance programs in the “I-270 shooter” case. He received commendation from the Columbus, Ohio Division of Police for his role during the investigation of a bank robbery and shooting resulting in the death of a police officer.

Team Telecom, the Softbank/Sprint Deal and the Impact on CALEA Obligations

Some CSPs are subject to the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA), the U.S. statute that requires telecommunications carriers to install technical capabilities for lawful surveillance. In those cases Team Telecom would expect the CSP to comply with CALEA. In fact, Team Telecom could ask the CSP to install surveillance capabilities beyond the requirements of CALEA. If the CSP refuses, Team Telecom could withhold its consent to the CSP’s Section 214 application. That right of consent gives Team Telecom strong regulatory powers and leaves the CSP with little or no bargaining power as the risk mitigation measures are “negotiated.”

Subsentio Launches New Lte Option For Compliance With Electronic Surveillance Laws

Probe Approach Gives LTE Service Providers and Switch Manufacturers

Low Cost, Easy-to-Deploy Alternative to Current Surveillance Systems

DENVER, MAY 14, 2013 – Subsentio, the leading provider of trusted third party solutions for lawful intercept, today announced Safe Harbor Probe™ for LTE, providing mobile operators and switch manufacturers with a new, cost-effective solution ensuring compliance with electronic surveillance laws at a fraction of the cost of investing in current interception gateways and mediation systems.

Subsentio has integrated and tested the Safe Harbor Probe™ with Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson based LTE core networks. A single Safe Harbor Probe™ monitors the traffic on certain LTE interfaces and does not require additional investment in electronic surveillance hardware and software – producing a significant savings. Mobile operators offering LTE can use one Safe Harbor Probe™ to meet all requirements for lawful intercept and benefit from a state-of-the-art option that ensures rapid deployment, low cost, “five 9s” reliability.

“Subsentio’s successful integration of the Safe Harbor Probe™ with Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson core networks represents an important ‘first’ in LTE – a new era where mobile operators and switch manufacturers can integrate existing equipment with the market-leading lawful intercept device for far less than the cost of using a network hardware solution,” said Steve Bock, Subsentio President. “Subsentio is moving aggressively to test the Safe Harbor Probe™ with other network equipment manufacturers, and will announce further LTE integrations later in 2013.”“Until now, to ensure compliance with the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA), LTE providers needed to purchase and operate a relatively expensive interception gateway or mediation system,” said Dr. Glen Myers, Subsentio Chief Technology Officer. “Now mobile operators have a better choice for LTE – the Safe Harbor Probe™, fully tested by the FBI CALEA Implementation Unit, and readily available to integrate with network hardware.”About the Safe Harbor Probe

Rather than attempting to extract intercept information from the various pieces of networking equipment within the LTE core, the Safe Harbor Probe™ gets its information by watching the network interfaces between the pieces of networking equipment. The Probe can be provisioned to intercept based on subscriber phone number, subscriber identity, user-equipment identity, and IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.Features include optional buffering, a built-in virtual private network endpoint, and the delivery of “pen register” intercepts in addition to full content (e.g., Title III) intercepts. As LTE networks add Voice over LTE (VoLTE), the Probe will be able to handle that, as well. The Probe is backed by Subsentio’s Safe Harbor Certification program, which provides strict adherence to industry standards, delivers expert installation, testing and maintenance, and ensures secure transmission of court order-specified information only.
